I don’t have a real title to this post, as it really is not going to be a post. It’s just reminding myself, how to post, so I would post sometime soon as I didn’t post for ages!

In the meantime, three important things happened:

Jana got married!
My blog was temporary unavailable as the server that hosted him died (Hvala, Skrat, za hitro in nesebicno ukrepanje, tvoj blog je se zmer down, tko da hurry up;)).
I am back to Belgium and LLN.

Silly Girl!

Yesterday, I replied to an email of my friend and today he wrote back. I am publishing it as I really appreciate his bluntness and being direct, also a good laughter material (apart from the first and the last bit).

To my “happy to hear you are doing well”, he replied: “Did it seem that things are going well?! Sorry, that wasn’t intended! I’m up to my eyeballs in debt, I hate not seeing (the name of his girlfriend) and my career prospects are almost non-existent!“.

About jobs in academia: “Academia is a good career if you can get your foot in the door, but it takes so much persistence over such a long period of time that it seems that you have to be single, relatively friendless, and willing to tolerate a scandalously low salary and huge job instability!!!”
And to me, saying that Lillian is my favourite “Playing the Angel” song: “Lillian is ruuuuuubbish! It’s very catchy, but it’s definitely one of the worst songs on the album! Silly girl “.

He concluded: “OK, I have to write another job application now :/”

My dear friend (who is reading this from time to time so will know that’s him), I wish you all the best and I hope that things will get better for you soon. But, I will send you an email and tell you what you have to hear about Lillian being rubbish;))

Depeche Mode

It was incredible. I knew all the songs, so there was no surprise on that side, but their performance and erotic charge of David Gahan was outstanding.
